Product Development Cycle Time still
needs compression.
During the last two decades, industry has achieved monumental
levels or product development cycle time reductions, yet still strives for
more.
While the traditional areas of reduction will soon return diminishing
levels, a large intra-cycle area is relatively untapped -- that between electromechanical
and mechanical. Feeble attempts have been made to integrate the two
disciplines, but due in large part to the fundamental paradigm difference,
the type and nature of attributes are still an issue that are not effectively
integrated.
The speed in which electromechanical and mechanical designs mature are
individually becoming quicker, but the alignment and coordination between
them are excruciatingly slow.
